Space Invaders -

Goldsmiths x LUW & Mind Funk Visuals

This concept reimagines the Goldsmiths building as a giant interactive arcade screen, transforming the façade into a nostalgic Space Invaders-inspired projection experience that invites festival visitors to stop, play and engage.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic retro game, the installation has been uniquely customised by replacing the traditional invaders with the Goldsmiths brand icon, seamlessly weaving the company's identity into the artwork. The result is a playful yet sophisticated activation that celebrates both innovation and community while creating a memorable destination along the Light Up Whakatāne trail.

Designed as a collaboration between Light Up Whakatāne and Mindfunk Visuals, the projection demonstrates how local businesses can become part of the creative storytelling of the festival. More than traditional signage, the building itself becomes the canvas—turning sponsorship into an experience that encourages interaction, photography, and social sharing.
