Lantern Making workshop

Saturday 20th, 10.30 am - 12.30 pm - Te Kōputu

At the Little Orchard Room, is suitable for children and teenagers from age 7+.

Tutor: our wonderful Sue Whale, experience art teacher, and Arts Whakatāne Chairperson

Families are encouraged to join in the fun. Make a Lantern and participate in a Lantern Parade from one illuminated artwork to the next during Saturday night's Community Event at the TRUST HORIZON LIGHTING UP WHAKATĀNE FESTIVAL.

Lantern Procession

Sunday 21th, 5.45pm - 6.15pm

Location: Mitchell park to Wharaurangi

The community evening will start at 5:45pm with a lantern procession from Mitchell Park to Wharaurangi. The procession will be lead by the Whakatane Scottish Pipe Band and local performers, visiting the locations of the illuminated art works along the way. The procession will finish at Wharaurangi where local musicians, dancers and singers will entertain the crowd until 7:30pm.

GLOWs in the Dark

Location: River Edge Park Miniature Railway

A Miniature Railway owned and operated by The Eastern Bay of Plenty Model Engineers Society Inc will be running their their annual 'Glows in the Dark' event. Weather permitting.

Fares start from $2.00 per person
Closed toe shoes must be worn! No Sandals, Jandals or Bare Feet allowed to Ride.

Another amazing way to glow for the Light up Whakatāne festival. Come along and enjoy glow in the dark, UV activated face painting.
