Ngā Parirau o te Mahoe -
Tamzin Blair
Ngā Parirau o te Mahoe is an illuminated interactive wing installation inspired by the native mahoe tree. Formed from layered leaf silhouettes in acrylic and softly backlit, the wings glow warmly in the night.
Visitors are invited to stand between the wings and step into a moment of transformation. For a brief time, they become something otherworldly, luminous, grounded in nature, yet lifted. The work creates a shared experience of joy, play, and self-expression as people photograph themselves and one another.
At its heart, this installation celebrates the simple magic of feeling expansive, a reminder that light, imagination, and connection to the natural world can transform how we see ourselves.
