Te Ara o te Tīeke -

Halo Whakatāne

Te Ara o te Tīeke invites you to walk a symbolic pathway that tells the story of our journey to bring tīeke (North Island saddleback) back to Whakatāne.

A trail of tīeke lines the alley, offering a glimpse of a future where tīeke once again thrive in the heart of our community. Framing each entrance, illuminated woven harakeke plant guards represent the protection, care, and restoration required to create the unfenced sanctuary we are working towards.

At its heart, Te Ara o te Tīeke celebrates kotahitanga, with the understanding that lasting change is only possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose. The pathway honours the journey we have shared, and continue to walk together, as we work towards a future where tīeke return to Whakatāne.
