Ātea

- Tame Iti & Te Mira Collective

Ātea, the much-anticipated inaugural event at Whakatāne's new creative hub. The name Ātea holds deep significance, referring to the space of creation birthed when Tāne-mahuta separated his parents. It symbolises a new dawn of creativity and potential, perfectly christening both the installation and the hub itself.

This unique light installation is the result of a dynamic collaboration between local cultural leaders and world-class designers. The team that brought the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra to Whakatāne is proud to present a new work by artists Tāme Iti and the Te Mira collective, brought to life by the award-winning lighting specialists at Angus Muir Design Studio.
